Choosing a hair dryer is easier when you know which type of tool you are actually shopping for. A conventional dryer, a volumizing brush and an air multi-styler solve different problems, and they sit at very different price points. This guide compares ten popular options sold on Amazon US so you can narrow the field before you read reviews of your own.

Important: we have not personally tested any of these products. Everything below comes from the Amazon listings we opened on 13 October 2026 and, where noted, the manufacturer’s own claims. Ratings, review counts and prices change often, so check the listing before you buy.

Transparency note: the Amazon links in this guide are ordinary product-research links with no tracking tags. HaqyaStore has no approved affiliate relationship with Amazon at this time. If that changes and affiliate links are added later, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases and will say so clearly beside those links. See our affiliate disclosure.

How to choose

Hair type

Fine hair usually does better with controlled, lower heat and a lightweight tool; thick or long hair benefits from strong airflow that shortens drying time. Curly and wavy hair often needs a diffuser to avoid disturbing the curl pattern. Our separate guide on choosing a hair dryer for fine hair goes deeper on that case.

Heat and speed settings

More settings give you more control, but what matters is whether you can drop to a gentler setting for finishing and use a cool shot to set a style. Be cautious with headline numbers: wattage and motor speed are not the same as how comfortable the heat is on your scalp. Look for clearly stated heat and airflow options rather than marketing language.

Attachments

A concentrator nozzle focuses airflow for smooth, straight results, and a diffuser spreads it for curls and waves. Brush attachments and multi-styler heads add styling options but also add pieces to store. Check what is actually in the box, because some listings describe accessories differently from their product titles.

Weight

A lighter tool is easier to hold during a long blow-dry. Not every listing states weight clearly, and a few give conflicting figures, so we only quote a weight where the listing or manufacturer gives one. If weight matters to you, confirm it before ordering.

Budget

Conventional dryers span a wide range, and a lower price does not mean a poor tool. Multi-stylers cost more because they combine several tools in one. Decide first whether you want a single dedicated dryer or a combined styling system, then compare within that group.

Styling needs

If you mainly want to dry quickly, a conventional dryer is enough. If you want root lift or a smooth blowout in one pass, a volumizing brush may suit you. If you want to dry, curl and smooth with a single device, an air multi-styler is the closest fit, at a higher price.

Conventional hair dryers and high-speed dryers

These are dedicated dryers with a concentrator nozzle and, in some cases, a diffuser. They are the best starting point if your main goal is drying hair efficiently.

BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium 2000W

  • Best for: people who want a corded, higher-wattage ionic dryer with a concentrator nozzle.
  • Notable features: 2000 W, ionic technology and a concentrator nozzle, according to the listing. The browser title of the page also mentions a diffuser and straightening pick, while the product heading mentions only the concentrator, so confirm the box contents.
  • Potential trade-off: the listing is inconsistent about included attachments. Weight and voltage were not clearly stated.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.5 out of 5 from 8,103 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Panasonic nanoe Compact Hair Dryer (EH-NA27)

  • Best for: travellers and anyone short on storage space who wants a folding-handle dryer.
  • Notable features: 1400 W, a folding handle and a QuickDry nozzle. Panasonic says its nanoe technology draws moisture from the air to leave hair feeling hydrated; this is a manufacturer claim we have not tested.
  • Potential trade-off: at 1400 W it has less rated power than the 1875 W full-size dryers in this guide, so drying a lot of thick hair may take longer. Compact size is the point of this model.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.5 out of 5 from 1,667 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Conair InfinitiPRO Hair Dryer with Diffuser and Concentrator (1875W)

  • Best for: shoppers who want a low-cost everyday dryer that includes both a diffuser and a concentrator.
  • Notable features: An 1875 W AC motor, ionic technology, three heat and two speed settings, a cool shot, a diffuser, a concentrator and a removable lint filter, per the listing.
  • Potential trade-off: it is a conventional design with no smart temperature control listed, and the listing we checked does not state weight.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.6 out of 5 from 23,046 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Laifen Swift Professional High-Speed Hair Dryer

  • Best for: people with thick or long hair who want a compact high-speed dryer with clear temperature indicators.
  • Notable features: A 110,000 RPM brushless motor with airflow up to 22 m/s, 200 million negative ions, a Thermo-Control system that checks temperature many times per second, and a colour-coded LED ring, as described on the listing.
  • Potential trade-off: these are manufacturer claims we have not tested, and the listing did not show wattage or voltage, so confirm US suitability before ordering.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.4 out of 5 from 766 ratings. View the Amazon product page

REVLON Infrared Ionic Hair Dryer with Diffuser and Concentrator

  • Best for: budget-minded shoppers who want a straightforward dryer with a diffuser and concentrator.
  • Notable features: 1875 W, three heat settings, two speeds, a cool shot, tourmaline ionic technology with a ceramic coating, a diffuser, a concentrator and styling clips, per the listing.
  • Potential trade-off: the feature set is conventional, with no brush or smart temperature control, and weight is not stated on the listing.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.6 out of 5 from 50,450 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Dyson Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer

  • Best for: shoppers who want a premium dryer with scalp-comfort and smart-attachment features and are comfortable with a high price tier.
  • Notable features: Per the listing: sensors that adjust features automatically, a Scalp Protect mode aimed at an optimal 130 degrees F at the scalp, attachment recognition that remembers your preferences, pause detection that switches the heater off and reduces airflow when you stop styling, and a colour-changing indicator for the heat setting.
  • Potential trade-off: this is a premium-tier product. The page we opened is the Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold version; other colours have their own listings. Weight is not stated clearly, so we have not quoted one.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.2 out of 5 from 640 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Multi-stylers and volumizing brushes

These tools combine drying with brushing or curling. They are not direct replacements for a plain dryer, so compare them with each other rather than with the dryers above.

Shark SpeedStyle Pro (HD731)

  • Best for: fine-to-medium hair and people who want scalp-comfort controls plus a brush attachment.
  • Notable features: A Scalp Shield mode, temperature regulation that Shark says caps heat at 230 degrees F, a Turbo Concentrator and a QuickSmooth Brush. Shark lists it at 1,750 W and about 1.65 lb. See our Shark SpeedStyle Pro HD731 specs guide.
  • Potential trade-off: the listing positions it for fine-to-medium hair, so people with very thick hair should compare other options, and it is a dryer system rather than a simple dryer.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.5 out of 5 from 685 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Shark SpeedStyle Hair Dryer with 3 Styling Tools (HD331)

  • Best for: fine-to-medium hair and people who want a dryer with several finishing attachments.
  • Notable features: Three attachments, a QuickSmooth Brush, a Turbo Concentrator and a RapidGloss Finisher, with temperature regulation that Shark says stays below 230 degrees F and settings that adjust to the attached tool, per the listing.
  • Potential trade-off: the listing positions it for fine-to-medium hair. More attachments also mean more pieces to store.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.3 out of 5 from 1,600 ratings. View the Amazon product page

REVLON One-Step Volumizer Plus (2.4 in barrel)

  • Best for: chin-length to mid-length hair where you want root lift, soft waves or flips.
  • Notable features: A 2.4 in oval barrel, a detachable brush head and charcoal-infused pins, per the listing. Amazon’s page gives different heat-setting counts in different places, so we have not stated one.
  • Potential trade-off: the smaller barrel is aimed at shorter lengths, so long hair may suit a larger barrel better.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.4 out of 5 from 32,835 ratings. View the Amazon product page

Shark FlexStyle Air Multi-Styler and Drying System (HD433CP)

  • Best for: people who want one tool to dry, curl, volumize and smooth.
  • Notable features: Four heat and three airflow settings, a cool shot, interchangeable styler attachments and a weight Amazon describes as just over 1.5 lb.
  • Potential trade-off: a multi-styler has more parts to store than a simple dryer.
  • Amazon listing (checked 13 October 2026): Rating 4.6 out of 5 from 375 ratings. View the Amazon product page
